Microsoft has just announced that the new name for its SkyDrive cloud storage service launched back in 2007 will be OneDrive. While SkyDrive Pro will be called OneDrive for Business, the cloud logo graphic will be kept.
SkyDrive launched for the desktop in April this year and the Windows app got an update today. The most notable changes in this update are the new SkyDrive logo and a new status window feature. The update also adds new context menu options and improves performance and reliability.
Significant changes were done to SkyDrive in the month of April, one of them being the release of desktop apps for Windows and OS X. One may think that SkyDrive being a Microsoft product may not perform better in Apple's ecosystem as compared to Apple's own cloud solution - iCloud. Microsoft thinks different.
SkyDrive, Microsoft's cloud storage offering, has undergone major improvements. New features include the launch of desktop apps, upgraded apps for a number of devices, a new subscription model and remote file access. Here's a look at what's new.
