Microsoft is organizing a Windows 8 AppFest, an 18 hour-long coding session, on September 21 in Bangalore, India, where it will make an official attempt to set the Guinness World Record for the 'world's largest app development marathon.'

Microsoft has announced that BUILD, the successor to MIX and PDC, will happen again in 2012. This year's BUILD will be held on the Microsoft Campus in Redmond, WA from 30^th October to 2^nd November, only 4 days after the launch of Windows 8. Registrations will open at 8 AM on 8/8.

Microsoft's open source project hosting website - CodePlex - has had a Metro UI-inspired transformation. The minimal backgrounds, large fonts and big tiles have given the somewhat dated-looking site a new lease of life.
