SkyDrive
launched for the desktop in April this year and the Windows app
got an update today. There might be only a few visible changes but
the update has improved performance and reliability.
The changes that you will notice are:
-
A new status window feature was implemented on users' demand.
You can summon the status window by left-clicking the SkyDrive icon
in the system tray. The status window lets users know if SkyDrive
is up-to-date and also shows the time when SkyDrive was last
updated.

-
If SkyDrive is in the middle of syncing, it will display the
total number and size of the files to be synced.

A couple of new options, namely "View sync problems" and "Report
a problem," have also been added to the right-click context menu to
help users troubleshoot and report issues.
But that's not all. The most notable change in this update is
the new SkyDrive logo. The new logo sports a Metro-ish look:

Here's what the SkyDrive team has to say about it:
"The refreshed logo is a natural evolution of the
work we're doing across Microsoft to deliver a more consistent
experience across all of our products. As we update SkyDrive for
other platforms, apps, and devices, you'll see the updated logo
appear more broadly."
SkyDrive will update itself automatically, but you can get the
update earlier by reinstalling
the app manually.
